Free Mole Check Event – Prioritise Your Skin Health

March 2, 2026 by lewis

Your skin health matters – and early detection can make all the difference. That’s why Southface Skin and Dermatology Clinic is hosting a Free Mole Check Event on Saturday 30th May.

This dedicated screening day is designed to raise awareness around skin cancer prevention and give you the opportunity to have any concerning moles or lesions assessed by our experienced dermatology team.

Why Mole Checks Are Important

Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the UK, but when detected early, it is highly treatable. Regular mole checks help identify any unusual or changing lesions that may require further investigation.

You should consider having a mole assessed if you notice:

  • Changes in size, shape or colour
  • Irregular or uneven borders
  • Itching, bleeding or crusting
  • A mole that looks different from others (the “ugly duckling” sign)

What to Expect

During your appointment, a clinician will carefully examine your mole using specialist equipment. If anything appears suspicious, we will advise you on the appropriate next steps and any further investigations if required. Please note that this is not a full skin check and only one mole of concern  or one area of skin will be examined.

Save the Date

Saturday 30th May – Free Mole Check Event

Spaces will be limited.

More details, including how to secure your appointment, will be announced soon — keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates.

Taking a few minutes to check your skin could make a lasting difference.

Complimentary Aesthetics Consultations with Dr Helen Robertshaw – A Rare Opportunity

February 23, 2026 by lewis

Southface Dermatology Clinic is delighted to announce something truly special for our upcoming Glow & Go Day — complimentary aesthetics consultations with Dr Helen Robertshaw.

This is not something we offer routinely.

For one day only, you will have the opportunity to sit down with one of our most experienced and respected clinicians for personalised, professional advice — completely free of charge.

Why This Is Such a Rare Opportunity

Dr Helen Robertshaw is a highly regarded doctor with extensive experience in aesthetic medicine. Her approach is grounded in clinical expertise, patient safety and natural-looking results.

Consultations with senior aesthetic doctors are typically in high demand, and for good reason — the quality of assessment and guidance can make all the difference when considering treatment.

Offering these consultations on a complimentary basis is exceptionally rare for our clinic. Southface’s Glow & Go Day has been created to give both new and existing patients the chance to explore their options with complete confidence.

What to Expect from Your Consultation

This is not a rushed or sales-driven appointment. Instead, it is an opportunity to:

  • Discuss your aesthetic goals and concerns
  • Receive honest, expert medical advice
  • Understand which treatments may (or may not) be suitable for you
  • Learn about subtle, natural approaches to enhancement

Dr Helen’s philosophy centres on balance and individuality. Her goal is always to enhance your features while maintaining your natural expression and character.

If you have been considering anti-wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, or simply want clarity about your options, this is the perfect starting point.

Thinking About Treatment but Unsure Where to Begin?

Many patients delay aesthetic treatments because they feel uncertain. They want professional guidance before making a decision — reassurance that they are in safe hands.

This is exactly what this day is about.

Southface’s Glow & Go Day gives you access to trusted medical expertise in a relaxed, supportive environment, without any obligation to proceed.

Limited Appointments Available

As expected, availability for these complimentary consultations is extremely limited. We anticipate that appointments will book quickly.

If you have been waiting for the right moment to explore your aesthetic options with an experienced medical professional, this is it.

Don’t miss out.

To secure your place at Southface Glow & Go Day, please contact our reception team as soon as possible.

Coils and IUDs at Southface Dermatology Clinic: Long-Term, Effective Contraception

January 30, 2026 by lewis

Choosing the right form of contraception is a personal decision and an important part of women’s health care. Coils, also known as intrauterine devices (IUDs), are a highly effective, long-acting, and reversible form of contraception suitable for many women.

Southface Dermatology Clinic is pleased to offer coil and IUD services as part of its women’s health care provision, providing expert assessment, safe insertion, and ongoing support in a professional medical setting.

What Are Coils and IUDs?

A coil or intrauterine device (IUD) is a small, T-shaped device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. Once in place, it provides long-term contraception without the need for daily attention.

There are two main types of coils:

  • Hormonal coils (IUS), which release a small amount of progesterone
  • Copper coils (IUD), which are hormone-free

Both types are highly effective and can last for several years, depending on the device used.

How Do They Work?

Hormonal coils work by:

  • Thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm reaching the egg
  • Thinning the lining of the uterus
  • In some cases, suppressing ovulation

Copper coils work by releasing copper ions, which are toxic to sperm and prevent fertilisation.

Your clinician will help you decide which option is most suitable based on your medical history, symptoms, and preferences.

Benefits of Coils and IUDs

Coils and IUDs offer several advantages, including:

  • Over 99% effectiveness at preventing pregnancy
  • Long-term protection lasting between 3 and 10 years
  • No need to remember daily contraception
  • Rapid return to fertility once removed

Hormonal coils may also help with heavy or painful periods, while copper coils provide a hormone-free option for those who prefer or require it.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Before insertion, you will have a consultation to discuss:

  • Your medical and gynaecological history
  • The different coil options available
  • Benefits, risks, and possible side effects

Insertion is a straightforward medical procedure that is usually completed within a short appointment. Some women experience mild to moderate discomfort during insertion, which settles quickly. Aftercare advice and guidance on what to expect in the days following the procedure are provided.

Follow-up support is available should you have any concerns.

Is a Coil Right for You?

Coils and IUDs are suitable for many women, including those who have not had children. However, they may not be appropriate for everyone.

A thorough medical assessment ensures that the chosen method is safe, appropriate, and aligned with your health needs and lifestyle.

Women’s Health Care at Southface Dermatology Clinic

At Southface Dermatology Clinic, coil and IUD services are delivered with the same commitment to clinical excellence, patient comfort, and personalised care that underpins all medical services.

Whether you are considering contraception for the first time, looking to change methods, or seeking a long-term solution, expert advice and care are available in a supportive and discreet environment.

If you would like to discuss coils or IUDs, a consultation is the first step to understanding your options and making an informed choice about your reproductive health.
