Age Spots
Solar lentigos and freckles are often called age spots.
Solar lentigos are non-cancerous brown spots that are very common in sun exposure areas. They are often found on the face, chest, legs and the back of the hands. Unlike freckles, they tend to appear a little later in life, usually after the age of 30.
They can vary in colour; many are a beige colour in fair-skinned people however they can also be dark brown or black. Unlike freckles, they tend to be present all year round rather than fade in the winter months.
In the clinic, we will check that they are the non-cancerous type of lentigo prior to treating them.
We treat them in our clinic in various ways and we will assess your skin to determine the suitability of treatment.
A common way to treat a small number of larger lesions is cryotherapy. For large areas, we may suggest the 3JUVE intense pulsed light treatments.
