Medical Microneedling
Medical microneedling treatments can significantly improve the appearance of:
- Aged and sun damaged skin
- Facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Skin rejuvenation
We use medical microneedling often in combination with specific growth factor serums particularly exosomes to enhance the remodelling of collagen and produce skin rejuvenation.
There is little downtime and this stimulates the skin's own natural growth to improve the appearance of pigmentation problems, fine lines, scars and stretch marks. It also over time will tighten the skin as collagen is stimulated. Medical microneedling is far more effective than home microneedling as it penetrates deeper into the skin , stimulating the dermis , where collagen is made.
Exosomes are tiny packets of proteins, lipids, and RNA, that are released by cells to communicate with one another.
Medical microneedling is not a quick fix. It requires several treatments but results, although not immediate, are long lasting – taking a few weeks to show.
Medical microneedling is normally offered as a course of 1-6 treatments, depending on your individual needs.
Here at Southface Dermatology Clinic we carry out a detailed consultation prior to the microneedling procedure to create a bespoke treatment plan for your individual needs.
Firstly, we will apply an anaesthetic cream to the area to be treated; this will be left on for one hour to take effect. Once the cream is removed, the Dermapen® is rolled across the skin to make thousands of tiny puncture marks in the skin. These tiny punctures cause the body to produce new skin cells and collagen as it heals itself. The whole procedure will take approximately one hour, depending upon the areas to be treated. Treatments are normally offered 6 weeks apart to allow new collagen to grow.
